The RFP Process

The North Texas Area United Way utilizes a competitive bid process to fund programs in the community. This process ensures that programs that are best able to contribute to long-term positive outcomes in the areas of Education, Income and Health are the programs that receive funding.

To facilitate this process, each impact council determines the strategies in the community that would result in improving outcomes. These strategies are then placed out to bid and the not-for-profit community is asked to apply for funds to implement the strategy. The proposal(s) that are best able to demonstrate measurable results and implement a quality program is the program(s) that will receive funding.

In addition to offering programs or developing programs that are specific to the Request for Proposals, each organization must meet the following criteria in order to be eligible for United Way funds:

  • Must have written Bylaws, Articles of Incorporation, Job Descriptions, Organizational Chart
  • Must be incorporated and actively conducting business for at least two years at the time of application
  • Must demonstrate a significant need in the community
  • Must utilize promising or best-practices in program development and implementation
  • Must have the ability to track and report outcomes related to program impact
  • Must demonstrate that the agency is committing some of its own resources to the project
  • Align with the NTAUW Mission and the Agenda for Action
  • Willing to comply with NTAUW Community Investment guidelines for review of partner agencies
  • If annual revenue for the organization is above $250,000, each organization must submit an independent audit. For organizations with revenue below $250,000, each organization must submit an independent financial review
