Power of the Purse 2008
2nd Annual Power of the Purse...Talk of the Town!
What a successful event it was! The room was filled with beautiful women who came to listen and share in the festivities of the United Way Women’s Leadership Council. Our guest speaker, Mamie McCullough, said it best, “I CAN BEE what I want to BEE”. She was phenomenal!
The Champagne Purse Auction was a huge hit! There were 33 beautiful purses donated by some of the most amazing women in our community.
The event was Co-Chaired this year by the WLC’s own mother and daughter team, Sharla Lyne and Stephanie Morris. A special thanks goes to Nina Brackeen, Cynthia Brock, Lollie Barnard, and Rozan Franklin for all of their hard work and help with the event. We would like to thank everyone that attended or helped in any way to make this year’s event such a success!
"It is a wonderful event to join with women of all ages for the good of the community - with an added bonus of seeing a lot of great purses!"
- Jeannie Hilbers, Vice President, First National Bank of Wichita Falls

Message from the Chair
"In 2007, 7 women made a leadership commitment to help make real and lasting changes in our community. Two years later, 63 distinguished women have joined the WLC as guardians of our community.
The WLC focus goes beyond raising funds. We're raising hopes, creating opportunities and changing lives. The WLC has the power to generate change, to transform the tomorrows of those in need."
Dottie Morrison
Chair, WLC
